For 30 years, the Maui Academy of Performing Arts (MAPA) has been enriching people, building community and connecting our world through the performing arts. As an integral part of the Maui community, we offer a broad spectrum of classes, performances and educational services presented by professional artists to community members of all ages.

From building self-confidence to developing a work force capable of analytical thinking and creative problem solving, our programs grow strong individuals who possess the tools to positively transform themselves, their families and their communities. Our performing arts programs and productions help people explore their potential and deepen their awareness, understanding and appreciation of humanity. At MAPA, people discover themselves and their world through the arts.

Founded in 1974 as a program of the county Department of Parks and Recreation, we became the Maui Youth Theatre, a 501(c)3 organization two years later. And since that time, MAPA has grown from an after-school/summer program into a year round performing arts organization partnering with the Department of Education and other community and arts organizations to serve the educational and artistic needs of Hawaii.

In fiscal 2002-03, MAPA provided educational performing arts services to 12,049 students and performance experiences to 28,304 people throughout the state.
