Welcome to the Language Arts Division
The Language Arts division provides many courses that can satisfy the general education and transfer requirements for students. You will find classes to fit your schedule at a variety of days and times on campus. We also offer several online and hybrid courses, if you prefer to learn from home or come to campus less often. Our instructors strive to provide challenging and relevant courses that will prepare you for your future careers and promote your personal development.
We recommend that you start your English or English as a Second Language (ESL) classes at the beginning of your freshman year since grades of "C" or better in ENG 22 (or ESL 21/22) or ENG 100 (or ENG 100E) courses are often prerequisites for many Leeward CC courses. Your writing placement test score or alternative placement qualifiers will help you find the English or ESL level that's right for you. Getting a head start in English will help you succeed in all of your classes.
