Faculty Senate standing committees are listed in the Faculty Senate Charter and Bylaws and are considered a permanent part of the Senate. Standing committee members generally change when new officers are elected, but the committee's purpose, function, and duties do not change.

Faculty Senate ad hoc committees are created to perform a specific tasks not already covered by other committees.  Standing committees are created with a unique chair and membership. Ad Hoc committees are dissolved when the task is completed and a final report is provided.
