Zoom Videoconferencing


Zoom is a user-friendly video and web conferencing tool that can be used to conduct online meetings, training, or class discussions.

The EMC has been piloting the use of Zoom for video conferencing needs. Since we started the pilot in 2018, the Universtiy of Hawai'i system has started offering Hangouts Meet as part of the UH@Google Core Apps. We encouage you to use Google Hangouts Meet for video conferencing. If that does not meet your needs, Please contact the EMC for a recommendation on other options.

IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR MAC USERS [2:35 pm PT, Tuesday 7/9] The July 9 patch to the Zoom app on Mac devices is available at zoom.us/download, or check for updates by opening your Zoom app window, clicking zoom.us in the top left corner of your screen, and then clicking Check for Updates.

Free Zoom Account 

We encourage you to create a free Zoom room for your individual use.

no costWith the free version, you can host up to 100 participants, have unlimited 1 to 1 meetings, are limited to 40 mins for group meetings.


Advanced Features

If you need advanced features such as breakout rooms or time limit over 40 minutes for more than one-to-one conferences, then you may contact the contact the Educational Media Center for more information.

Reservation Process

  1. Use this calendar to schedule Zoom Pro Account use.
  2. The EMC will send you and email to confirm your meeting date/time. The email will have the link to your Zoom meeting room.
